About 15 people
The opening was introduction about FOSS, which focused on GNU project, Linux kernel project, GNU/Linux distributions, open source licenses, FOSS culture, and other related topics. Each of topics was mentioned with the most simple and understandable words in order to help listeners enjoy and want to contribute to FOSS. I took examples to compare Fedora with other popular GNU/Linux distros such as Ubuntu, CentOS, etc to show the most outstanding features of Fedora.
To continue the event, Fedora project and community were introduced, as well as updated information related to Fedora Vietnam community. The figures (volunteers number) surprised people since most of participants had never ever used or joined in FOSS community. Then I introduced the changes and greatest features of Fedora 18. This was an interesting topic which got much attention. Lastly, I noticed a good news that “Mr. Truong Anh Tuan had been successfully nominated in FAmSCo group”. Everybody was very happy when I explained the FAmSCo and its valuable operations.
The end of event was an open discussion about Fedora and FOSS. This was the most vibrant part as people were freely talk about their concerns or unclear things. There were lots of question for me. It was my pleasure to be the Fedora representative and help people understand correctly the Fedora project or FOSS in general.
There was a small party as the final of event. Fedora 18 CDs were gifts for each other.
It was a regret that this event was held in the Tet Holiday, when a big number of students came back to their home.
To sum up, the event was successfully organized. I hope that there will be more people using Fedora as their main systems in near future.
Total cost of the party is about 40$. All photos of the event can be found here!
Congratulation Fedora 18 again!
Thank you and see you soon in next events!
